Golfo Aranci between coast and culture

Together with the port and Olbia Airport, Golfo Aranci forms one of the gateways to northeastern Sardinia. This makes the town interesting for you both as a coastal destination and as a starting point for a journey that brings together the sea, landscape, history and arrival. When planning your day, you can consider Cala Moresca, Cala Sassari and Le Cinque Spiagge as different coastal points of reference.

Beaches with different characteristics

Cala Moresca is a small bay with two separate beaches. At Cala Moresca, the water is initially shallow near the shore and becomes deeper farther out. Its color ranges from emerald green to turquoise, while rock formations rise from the clear water. If, while spending time by the sea, you pay attention to the shape of a bay, changing water depths and distinctive natural details, Cala Moresca conveys a vivid impression of the coast.

Le Cinque Spiagge has parking areas, bars and bathing establishments. Cala Sassari is a destination for diving, snorkeling and underwater fishing enthusiasts.

A one-kilometer footpath connects the SP 82 with Cala Sabina beach. Its length can be taken into account when planning the timing of a day on the coast. When planning, the time spent at the beach can be considered separately from the distance of the path.

Natural environment and inherited history

Capo Figari and the offshore island of Figarolo are designated as Sites of Community Importance and are considered areas of great biodiversity. This brings the diversity of habitats into focus as an aspect of the region in its own right, alongside the beach.

The Pozzo Sacro di Milis is evidence of Nuragic culture. At the same time, it was used by ships visiting the coast of Figari to replenish their water supplies.

Railway station and historic connections

Golfo Aranci railway station is the terminus of the Cagliari–Golfo Aranci line, which has existed since 1883. The railway line built in the 1960s is also significant to the town's transport history: it connected the center of Golfo Aranci with the coastal village of Cala Sabina, which until then could only be reached by sea. In this way, the development of the connection between the town center and the coast can also be traced through two different railway links.

Modern underwater art as a cultural accent

MuMart is a museum of modern underwater art founded in 2016. The museum's subject combines art and the sea in a way that suits travel planning in which you take cultural content into account alongside beaches and nature.
