Lu Lioni reveals itself as a travel destination through its coast, protected nature, culture and Gallurese cuisine. La Cinta and the San Teodoro Lagoon

The specific coastal landscape features La Cinta as a beach measuring a total of three kilometres, with very fine, brilliant white sand dunes. Typical Mediterranean maquis plants grow behind the dunes, including juniper, sea lily and strawflower. There is a designated kitesurfing area approximately in the middle of the beach. The southern section of La Cinta has parking facilities and a tourist information office.

Behind La Cinta lies the San Teodoro Lagoon. As a special protected area, it belongs to the network of Sites of Community Importance (SCIs). In addition, the Tavolara Punta Coda Cavallo Marine Protected Area promotes tourism, cultural, educational and recreational activities in forms that are compatible with the protection of nature and the landscape.

Monte Nieddu and Practical Information

At Monte Nieddu, there are winding mountain bike trails used by mountain bikers. There are also paths and trails for hiking, jogging and running. The San Teodoro Express is relevant for planning your schedule: During the 2026 summer service, it operates free of charge every day from 1 June to 30 September, including public holidays.

Since the publication of the regulation, access to the Compendio Monti Nieddu has been permitted daily from 8:00 to 20:00 until 31 December 2026 for private individuals and authorised economic operators. You should take this time restriction into account when planning.

Museums and Sardinian History

The MAST – Museo Archeologico San Teodoro is open continuously from 10:00 to 20:00 from Tuesday to Sunday and is closed on Mondays. The ground floor of the Museo della civiltà del mare is accessible without steps and without architectural barriers. There, a temporary exhibition displays finds from the inhabited area of San Teodoro, from the local waters and from nearby waters that were characterised by intensive trade in antiquity.

Gallurese Cuisine in Lu Lioni

The regional culinary offering includes the Suppa cuàta, a speciality of Gallura – Gallurese soup. It is prepared with bread, cheese and beef broth, then baked in the oven. The Festa dell'Aglióla is a fixed event in May. On this occasion, you can sample traditional Gallurese dishes and wines offered by chefs from restaurants in San Teodoro.
