Marinella represents a coastal stay where a long sandy beach can be combined with water sports, boat trips, hiking trails and maritime experiences. This picture is complemented by Porto Marana, a distinctive church and culinary traditions in the municipality of Golfo Aranci.

Beach and coast

At Spiaggia di Marinella, the beach stretches for more than 800 metres. Fine white sand meets turquoise, crystal-clear water; the shallow, sandy seabed slopes gently. The facilities include parasol and sun-lounger hire, seaside bars and restaurants, showers and toilets, as well as easier access for people with disabilities. Spiaggia di Punta Marana features a different type of sand: light golden, with medium to fine grains.

Water sports and excursions

Windsurfing and snorkelling are available at Spiaggia di Marinella; canoes and pedal boats can be hired there. A boat trip to the Tavolara Archipelago departs from Spiaggia di Marinella, as does another trip to Mortorio Island and the Costa Smeralda. Spiaggia di Punta Marana also offers the opportunity to go scuba diving; there is a car park as well as bars and restaurants nearby.

Buenaonda Surf organises guided excursions on the water. These include kayaking tours, boat trips to observe marine wildlife and SUP excursions along the coast. The maritime offering therefore ranges from independent activities on the beach to accompanied exploration of the coastal landscape.

Hiking trail with panoramic views

The Madonna del Monte–Marinella hiking route begins near the church of Nostra Signora del Monte by Marinella. It crosses two gentle hills and offers panoramic views of the Costa Smeralda, Golfo Aranci and Olbia. At the same time, this trail forms part of an old votive pilgrimage route leading to Nostra Signora di Cabbu Abbas.

Porto Marana and the island world

Porto Marana includes a marina for 320 boats. It accommodates boats up to 15 metres long with a maximum draught of 2 metres. Porto Marana is also a starting point for the islands of Soffi and Mortorio as well as the Maddalena Archipelago. Those who want to experience the coast from the water therefore find another maritime focal point alongside the beach experiences.

Architecture and regional cuisine

The Chiesa di Marinella Vergine della Pace is architecturally inspired by the simple rural ecclesiastical architecture of the Mediterranean region. It was built from tuff, terracotta and lime. In the municipality of Golfo Aranci, Zuppa di Pesce is considered a typical speciality of the fishing village.

Getting there and orientation

Marinella railway station is a few minutes’ walk from Spiaggia di Marinella. In addition, Spiaggia di Marinella is connected by bus services from Olbia, Porto Rotondo and other places on the Costa Smeralda. The combination of the railway station and bus routes makes local mobility an important consideration when planning a trip and opens up various ways of incorporating Marinella into your stay.
