Discover Pantogia: Coast, Nature and Culture on the Costa Smeralda
Pantogia is part of the Costa Smeralda area between the Golfo Pevero and Capriccioli. The surrounding area combines coastal landscapes, nature experiences, golf, historical sites and culinary destinations, offering a range of options for planning your trip. Residenza Pantogia is located on the promontory of the same name above the Golfo del Pevero.
Beach, Wetland and Landscape at Pevero
Piccolo Pevero is a small, partially freely accessible beach. Crystal-clear turquoise water and calcareous sand define its character. Behind Grande Pevero lies the La Padula wetland, which attracts numerous migratory bird species and is suitable for birdwatching. Grande Pevero itself is located in the Monti Zoppu nature area and forms part of the Pevero Health Trail.
The cliffs of Grande Pevero Bay also preserve a special memory: the “Madonnina dello Speronello” commemorates the flooding that struck the town of Montalto di Castro in Tuscany. Those who reach the summit of Monte Zoppu will find a spot regarded as a viewpoint for photography. The landscape can therefore be explored both along the coast and through nature observation and views from the mountain.
The Pevero Health Trail
The Pevero Health Trail runs through the Pevero and Romazzino areas and passes Porto Liccia Bay and Grande Pevero Bay. The route is 13,000 metres long in total. Along the trail, there are eleven fitness stations with benches and training equipment. The trail is mostly easy; the path to the summit of Monte Zoppu, however, is more suitable for experienced hikers. The different sections help you distinguish between an easier route through the landscape and a more demanding mountain stretch.
Getting There and Public Transport
From Arzachena or Olbia, the route to Pantogia follows the SP 59 towards Porto Cervo. After the turn-off for Cala di Volpe, turn left into the Pantogia district after two kilometres. For orientation on site, there is also an ARST stop with the designation B_61847.
When choosing a hotel in Pantogia, these specific location and mobility considerations can be incorporated into your personal planning alongside the excursion destinations.
Church, Art and History in Porto Cervo
In the vicinity of Pantogia, the Chiesa Stella Maris in Porto Cervo was designed by the architect Michele Busiri Vici and consecrated in 1968. The church also contains the painting “La Madonna addolorata”, created by El Greco in the 16th century. The site thus combines architecture with an important work of art.
The Piazzetta di Porto Cervo is regarded as a landmark of the town envisioned by Karim Aga Khan in the 1960s and as the starting point for the route to the old harbour. “Lu Rotu” and the “Stazzo di Monte Zoppu” offer further insights into past ways of life. “Lu Rotu” can be traced back to the beginning of the 20th century and was once used to process wheat. With its stone animal enclosures, the “Stazzo di Monte Zoppu” provides an insight into rural life in earlier times.
Golf and Local Cuisine
In the surrounding area, the Pevero Golf Club offers courses for adults, teenagers and children through the Pevero Golf Academy, including for people learning golf for the first time. The facilities also include rental equipment such as golf cars, trolleys and bags, as well as the Toptracer Range practice system. Golf can therefore be considered a focus in its own right in Pantogia, alongside the beach, hiking and culture.
One culinary destination is I Frati Rossi in Via Paolino Azara in Pantogia, Porto Cervo, on the Costa Smeralda in Arzachena. The roots of its hospitality date back to 1994. From its terrace, the restaurant offers views of the Golfo del Pevero and the Isola di Tavolara; at the same time, it places traditional flavours and carefully selected ingredients at the centre of its offering.
